“Every Child is an Artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up”. – Pablo Picasso

At Sherwood High, we strive to ensure that the artist within each child continues to thrive. Through nurturing guidance and structured training, we uncover and celebrate each student’s unique talents, fostering a lasting connection to their creativity and imagination.

Art & Craft

Our art programme tailors its instruction to suit each grade level. For students in Grades 5 and above, the curriculum includes canvas painting with acrylics, while students in Grade 4 and below focus on pencil shading, oil pastels, and watercolours. Additionally, students participate in workshops on origami, best-out-of-waste crafts, and SUPW (Socially Useful Productive Work) activities, helping them discover new creative outlets.

To showcase their work, we host annual exhibitions for Grades 5 to 8, each based on a unique theme.

Students develop their ideas, receive feedback from teachers, and refine their designs before transferring them to canvas. These exhibitions, held in January, offer a glimpse into the growth and creativity of our young artists.

Beyond traditional classes, our craft instructor engages students in hands-on projects, from board work and soap carving to woodblock printing and pot painting, providing a diverse range of creative experiences. We also encourage a healthy competitive spirit through regular inter-house competitions and events, as well as opportunities to compete at inter-school and national levels.

Choir & Music

Sherwood High offers a vibrant music programme, with opportunities for students to join our junior or senior choir. Our music facilities are equipped with a variety of instruments, including drums, bass and electric guitars, acoustic guitars, and keyboards. Students who play instruments are encouraged to form bands, performing at school events and representing us in inter-school competitions.

Vocal training is offered to all students, with a primary focus on Western music. Occasionally, students also learn songs in other languages for specific school programmes, broadening their musical repertoire and appreciation for diverse cultures.
