We all have been hunting for the key that opens the door to good health and strong immunity. The Covid crisis let us experiment on all WhatsApp messages, old brewing recipes from parents and grandparents. We too are guilty as charged.
After all this chaos we set out to finding the food which will help us gain good health and build strong immunity throughout our lives. This quest helped us understand a lot about the food that we find in our kitchen every day. Let’s look at them, shall we?

While the doctors are researching for the cure, let us have a look at food items that will help us build a strong immunity, especially with flu and winter season around the corner. Let’s look at natural food ingredients which will help boost immunity:
1) Turmeric:
Turmeric herb is something that you will find in Indian kitchen irrespective of the region. This herb has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that will help build a good immunity. We are sure you must have heard about the famous haldi wala doodh. Replace the milk-drink supplements with haldi doodh and see the magic.
2) Carrots:
Carrot is a root vegetable that comes in 13 different varieties, rich in vitamin A. One carrot can complete 73% of your daily vitamin A requirement. It is also rich in Potassium and vitamin C. These vitamins help protect you against any infection leading towards lungs. It is also very effective to keep you look younger.
3) Beetroot:
Another root vegetable enriched with fiber and Vitamin C. The health benefits of it are numerous; it helps improve blood flow and lower blood pressure. Phytochemicals and antioxidants present in the root will protect the immune system.
4) Leafy greens:
Watercress, Spinach, Collard greens, Fenugreek leaves etc,. All these leafy greens have high mineral properties like calcium and zinc, best suited for immunity boosting. You can add them in salads or just make a gravy (Saag)
5) Garlic:
Garlic has been used from centuries by Hakims and Vaidyas. Garlic can be called as the queen of antibiotics; also antiviral and antifungal. You can simply chop and add it in your food or just swallow a tiny clove of garlic every morning.
6) Dark Chocolate:
Yes, you read that right. Dark chocolate has more than just taste, they have natural sources of Zinc, iron, magnesium and antioxidants; best suited for immune functioning.
7) Fluids:
We can’t stress enough on the significance of water. An adult human comprises 60% of water, therefore proving the importance of it. Water keeps you hydrated and carries oxygen to body cells resulting in functioning of organs and positive effect on the immune system. Consume water based on your weight and capacity.
